Asus M930

Dimensions: 113 x 54 x 18.7 mm
Weight: 158 g
Display: 400 x 240 pixels, 2.6 inches, TFT, 65K colors

Price Range:

Asus M930 is positioned as the Nokia E90 killer. And it does a good job of it. The exterior has a traditional QVGA display and numeric keypad. There’s a 2 megapixel autofocus cam around back, and the usual microSD expansion, WiFi, and Bluetooth. However it runs Windows Mobile 6 Standard — not Professional — so there is no hope of touching the display with a stylus. At 113 x 54 x 18.7mm and 158g make it wider, taller, thicker and heavier than most comparable phones. There is of course a reason for the M930’s extra bulk - a keyboard. But instead of a sliding to open, the M930 sports a hinged mechanism.

The full qwerty keyboard underneath is impressively spacious and even a dedicated number key row running along the top. Above it, set into the underside of the lid is an extra screen, slightly larger than the one on the front at 2.6in, and a slightly higher resolution of 400 x 240. It looks fantastic and in use it works just as well. The keys are responsive and the fact that the edge of the screen doesn’t encroach on the top of the keyboard means it feels far less cramped in use.The M930 runs Windows Mobile 6.0 Standard, which means that neither inner nor outer screen is touch-sensitive. But on a final positive note, the battery life proved to be very good.

With 256MB of ROM, 64MB and a microSD card the memory quota is OK, and the M930 is a 3G device with HSDPA. Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are both built in. There is a camera for making two-way video calls but it is inside the clamshell, which could prove rather inconvenient at times. There is a second camera with 2-megapixel capability on the back of the casing.
